Prologue: So, you’re new to the database

First of all, welcome! Below is a quick overview of how to use this database, both for newcomers and those who don’t quite know how to use Notion. Hopefully, these instructions are useful for you!

If not, have a look around on the internet for other Notion tutorials, and they should be good for getting you to grips with using this database. For the auditory learners among us:

Let’s get started!

1. What the heck is Notion?

Notion is a free website application that allows you to build anything you can dream of! Well, maybe not quite so literally, but it is very good for creating websites, databases, and planners, or to be used just as a simple organisation, planning, and note-taking tool. You can keep these ‘pages’ (i.e., any new creation) private or share your creations with other people.

For example: the UG Access and EDI Resources database! This is a communal database (aka a ‘page’ in Notion terms) collating Access- and EDI-related Biology resources from across the internet.

“But Shian!” I hear you say. “How do I use this super awesome database you made?” Well, disembodied voice, I’m glad you asked.

Time for a tutorial!

2. The Home Page: links, toggles, an embedded database, and a GIF
